Get Cold! (War)

1. Use the notes provided in class to create your own diagram/illustration of the Cold-War,  Your goal is to be able to simplify the Cold War so that the information fits on one page, is visually appealing, and effectively communicates.

Successful diagrams will include

  • 4 or more images
  • 6 or more dates & specific events
  • Some indication of change and/or continuity (Consider these techniques: use of arrows, use of space, explicit description and definition of changes or continuities)
2. In preparation for this diagram do the following:
a. Watch and complete the quizzes offered by the BBC: Causes of the Cold War
http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/history/mwh/ir2/causes_coldwaract.shtml

b. You may wish to refer to additional information on these Cold War study sites by the BBC.

c. John D. Clare has an excellent site that overviews the course of the Cold War. I've borrowed links from him.  http://www.johndclare.net/cold_warB1.htm

3. Please watch (again if necessary)

If you want sample diagrams try these: (But don't copy them verbatim!  Make your own -- you can be more creative!)  Clink on the link!
