Test Preparation

1. Read "Ain Jalut" and "Monsoons, Mude, Gold".  Make marginal notes.  Particularly note the relationship of the Mongols to middle-eastern powers of the 13th century and the role of cities in trade of the 13th-15th centuries.

2. Complete the take-home quiz.  I will post answers Sunday evening or earlier.

3. Study for our test on Tuesday!

Trade and Review

1. Complete maps of world trade goods, peoples, routes, and technological innovations 600-1450.  Use the charts and maps provided and the textbook.

2. Complete the Mongols and World Trade take-home quiz.

3. Review chapters 11-14.  Quiz on chapters 12-14 (pp. 450-458).

Start reviewing for the test that will be on chapters 11-14 next Tuesday!

1. Create source notes using primary sources to define trade in three world regions.
* Define the main idea, region/s affected, author pov, and three or more facts about trade from each source listed.  Do this quickly as if you were working on a DBQ.

2. Choose TWO of the regions for which you make source notes.
Write a 2-3 paragraph response to the prompt:

How was the _______ region connected to world trade in the period _______?

1. Use the summaries of Islamic empires, caliphates, and sultanates and your text to write a summary of each.  Focus on addressing these two questions in your summary:
a. How is this empire/caliphate/sultanate connected to world trade and developments elsewhere in the world?
b. What is the basis of the strength of this empire/caliphates/sultanate?
c. What is unique about this empire/caliphate/sultanate?

Study chapter 12 and notes for a quiz next lesson!
a. Identify trading zones (see map in text).
b. Describe trade products, traders for the Americas, Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa.
c. Describe the importance: locations, goods, practices: of Muslim and Jewish traders/trading communities.
d. Compare and contrast trade in the South Pacific, the region of South China Sea and the Indian Ocean.
