and answer the three questions at the end of the reading.

2. What are Empires and Why are they Important?

Answer these two questions in 2 sentences after reading pages 122-126.

3. List qualities of an empire from these pages: 118-126.

Early Humanity to Core Civilizations: Test Preparation

1. Study all materials for a test on Tuesday!  Use the review sheet distributed in class, your previous quizzes, and all notes provided!

2. Please read and respond to two sections of Document Delve 2: Asoka's Edicts and Faxien's Travels.

Read Spodek, chapter 4 and create notes for each of the three regions: Early China,The  Americas, West Africa

 

a. identifying 2 or more specific examples of change or continuity within each area,

b. identifying specific examples of development in each CHESS category,

c. defining key words.

1. Study for a cumulative test that you will take on Wednesday.

2. Create notes for chapter 3 & answer the questions at the end of the chapter in succinct, evidence-filled responses.

Complete the Document Delve: Read the documents as assigned and respond to the questions provided.

Early Civilizations (The Core Civilizations)

Goal: Compare and contrast qualities of early civilizations in order to

1. define a set of common characteristics and
2. prepare a written comparison and contrast
3. in order to develop a deep understanding of the similarities and differences of early large scale civilizations.

Task: Create a list of qualities and two short comparative paragraphs

Steps

1. Create a set of notes to compare and contrast early civilizations. Use the outline provided and the textbook.
2. Write one paragraph comparing 2 similar qualities for two civilizations.
3. Write one paragraph contrasting 2 dissimilar qualities for two other civilizations.

As for all of your AP World History writing you will seek to provide a wealth of specific evidence, explanation and evaluation of the evidence, and elegance of expression.

Early Human Society: The Sumerians

1. Read "Agricultural Villages" pp. 36-39.  Answer questions 1-3 on page 39.  If you had HH last year you may have this in your notes!  You may review your notes and resubmit the work.  Aren't you glad that you kept your notebook in an organized fashion!

2. Create CHESS notes (3 items each category) and a 10 item timeline to describe the early Sumerians.  You will need to read chapter 2, pages 39-62 to do this effectively.

1.  Read "Kennewick Man..."  Write a one sentence summary at the top of each page.  Write one question at the bottom of each page.

2. Identify 5 or more specific examples for each section of the outline for Period 1: Technological  & Environmental Transformations to 600 BCE.   You will need to use your textbook and the pages following the outline.
